Jimmy Haslam purchased the Cleveland Browns for just over $1 Billion. While the sale hasn't even been approved by the NFL owners yet, he's wasting no time settling into his new city.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Haslam just purchased a $4.1M mansion on the shores of Lake Erie. It's just over 14,000 square feet and is one of the largest home purchases in the area for the past several years.
This hilarious parody video was shared with me by a twitter friend. it's in response to the NFL Network's depressing feature "Cleveland 95" where they detailed the years leading up to and after the year in which former owner, Art Modell moved the team to Baltimore.
As if being a Browns fan hasn't been bad enough since, well, 1995 at the least.... A son reportedly stabbed his father yesterday over a bet on the Browns vs. Giants game.
The report indicates the two were watching the game at a local Buffalo Wild Wings in Heath, OH (Fairly close to Columbus) when they went outside to settle a dispute on a bet they had on the game. Apparently the father slammed his son's hand in a car door, punches were thrown by both parties and then the son stabbed the father repeatedly in the leg with a pocket knife.
The good news is both were treated at the hospital and released. The bad news is, the Browns are still 0-5.
The AP has reported that Police at the University of South Alabama have fatally wounded a naked student who repeatedly "charged the officers".
School officials say the incident occurred early Saturday morning when Police investigated noises and found a man "acting erratically".
Reports indicate this naked man charged the officer several times, the officer attempted to retreat several times as well in order to diffuse the situation, but felt no choice but to shoot him in the chest on the final charge.
The student has been identified as 18-year-old Gilbert Thomas Collar of Wetumpka.
The shooting is under investigation per policy, but this is certainly a very sad story.
OSU has confirmed that Cardale Jones has been suspended for tonight's game against Nebraska for his foolish tweet yesterday.
Jones stirred things up by tweeting the following:
"Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL classes are POINTLESS"
Urban Meyer was apparently less than thrilled.
Cardale Jones, Ohio State's 3rd string QB, made some waves with his tweet about how pointless classes are to "Student Athletes".

Ohio State baseball player, Pat Porter tweeted out last night that Cardale Jones is actually on the Dean's List at Ohio State.
That's right... the person who can barely construct a literate tweet is on the Dean's List...
In fairness, I haven't confirmed that he is actually on the Dean's List, but I'm just passing on what other Ohio State student athletes are saying....
An Ohio State Newspaper, "The Lantern" has gotten involved in the Presidential election running an Anti-Romney ad.
The ad tries to persuade Buckeye voters that a vote for Romney is a vote for Michigan....
Will it work?
Last night’s call in the Atlanta vs. St. Louis game was horrendous. While it likely wasn’t the reason the Braves lost the game, it’s no less of a disaster for MLB as they unveiled their new Wild Card format to the masses.
In true interweb form, Memes and photos mocking the blown call immediately started popping up.

Michael Wilbon stirred up the sporting world, especially the D.C. sporting world earlier in the week with comments he made disparaging the D.C. "sports scene". A D.C. sports writer, Dan Steinberg and fellow ESPN'er, Bram Weinstein took particular exception to Wilbon's comments.
A nice synopsis of this feud can be read here as I choose not to bog down this post with the details. Tonight, Wilbon issued an apology via his Facebook account to which he also tweeted a link.
I personally think the pissing contest was nothing more than that and apparently Wilbon realized how silly this whole thing was.
