Seattle Seahawks favored to add big-time boost to their pass rush with 16th overall pick in 2024 NFL Draft
Melina Myers-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks' edge pass rush has been a consistent source of frustration in recent times.

Seattle has gotten productive seasons out of the likes of Uchenna Nwosu, Darrell Taylor and, most recently, Boye Mafe.

But consistency has been hard for the Seahawks to come by on the edge and, as such, an outside pass rusher is an obvious potential target with the 16th overall pick.

And ESPN analytics has one of the best edge rushers in the draft as the most likely selection for Seattle in the first round.

Its draft predictor rates Florida State edge Jared Verse as the player with the highest chance of being selected 16th overall.

The Seahawks have shown significant interest in Verse during the pre-draft process, inviting him to their facility for a top-30 visit.

In his final season with Florida State, Verse racked up 62 pressures, the fifth-most among FBS edge rushers in the 2024 draft, per Pro Football Focus.

He racked up 29.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks in two seasons in Tallahassee.

The Seahawks clearly believe he has a strong chance of continuing to produce at that level in the NFL. If he did so for Seattle, it would go a long way to finally removing a long-time problem for the Seahawk defense.
