Everton Under-21 head coach Paul Tait has heaped praise on club captain Seamus Coleman.

The veteran right-back is working his way to full fitness after a serious injury last season.

Coleman has not played a first team game for six months, but is determined to get back to that level.

The 35-year-old was the overage player in the U21s' 1-0 win over Mansfield Town.

Post-game, Tait told the Liverpool ECHO: Seamus is amazing to have around the younger lads. We had him against Manchester United at the weekend and you just hope that he rubs off on the young players.

He's so enthusiastic and so passionate. In terms of his performance, I thought it was excellent considering how long he's been out.

You'll never get him just going through the motions and he doesn't let anyone else do that either. He's brilliant for us and he helps us massively with young players."
